This recipe has nothing to do with my Grandmothers kitchen, but its still a great story. When I was in elementary school, there was this lady, Ms. Trunetta Robinson. She used to cook all our meals and when we had spaghetti day, she used to let me get seconds. Thats probably why Im so fat now. Anyway, she used to cook breakfast too. Nothing fancy. She used to make cheese toast. Im sure it was nothing more than cheap bread, cheap cheese, and butter - but I still remember savoring each bite of that cheese toast. The bread was buttery and crusty and the cheese would melt so smoothly and would gather in the corner of your mouth when you ate it. You would have to use your finger to scrape it out. Good eating. Ms. Robinson touched a lot of people. She was at church one Sunday and was praising God like she always did. The next week they announced her funeral was that coming week. Im sure those extra servings of spaghetti helped shape my culinary point of view that I have today. This grilled cheese won ton is in her honor and memory. Ill share more great stories of her in the book...including the time she said to me Daris (because she couldnt pronounce the three syllables in my name) when you gonna find you a wife? I always shrugged my shoulders and we laughed it off. Tell my Granny hi, Ms. Robinson.
