This response is not what Id hoped for. I am tired of these agencies throwing press bombs at each other rather than putting their big-boy and girl britches on and sitting down to talk and SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I will be scheduling a meeting with Peggy Hatch and Chance McNeely first thing next week. Today, I had received informal indication that this 90 day extension and option to explore other disposal methods was not a move to rip the rug out from under the State of Louisiana. That may have been incorrect indication...but it sure seemed like a good cracked window we could have pushed on. With these knee-jerking responses flying just in time for evening news and closed offices, though, that window may now be shut. If somebody has to get ugly on this to get us off high-center then I dont mind being that guy. Agenda item 1 for the upcoming weeks will be to meet with DEQ; item 2 will be to visit Washington D.C. Its time to nip this mess in the bud and ensure we have the money, right, and evidence needed to choose a safe and expeditious disposal method. The clock is ticking.
