This road to Mille was built instead of some old tracks and most of it has completely new path. Last parts of it were finished in 2012 but it have been opened for some more years cars and trucks using temporary by-passes at places where new road was still under construction. Currently its the main road connecting port of Djibouti with Tigray and most of Amhara regions. Its also last part of designated Trans-African Highway 6 in Ethiopia to get asphalt cover. Now its possible to drive all the way from Sudan to Djibouti along asphalt roads.
