This round of Rituxan is behind us. Score 1 for Colin and his strong 14 year old teenage body. He gets another dose in a couple of days but that is couple of days away! I think his biggest complaint is all the lines he has. I think I count 5, but I cant tell. The nurse we had today and yesterday, Meredith will be with us again tomorrow. I like that, when we get consecutive days with a nurse. She is obsessively neat and is excited to come in tomorrow and re-organize all those damn lines. Word is that he may even be able to get disconnected for 10 minutes to take a shower. Talk about human tendency to take things for granted. I dont think he has had an actual shower for a week. Felt that nice warm water with its cleansing and healing powers all over. One might think peeuuu but laying in bed for a week makes for no teenage smells. Which oddly, in some weird way, I miss. You dont realize how those icky boy smells are healthy smells!! Granted, he gets a special bacterial wipe down every night so maybe that helps. But come on moms, embrace that active boy icky!! Those are good signs of a healthy kid! :-) Anyway, how nice we jump ahead with the clocks tonight- one less hour in our hospital say, technically, I suppose. We were talking briefly about it today with the Attending (main head doctor) and I could tell he hesitated away from clearly saying how much longer but felt at least two more weeks. YUCK. That seems like an eternity. Colin just wants to go outside. Last time was on February 22nd and that was forever ago. I look at pictures of him from recently and think, wow- he had cancer and I had no idea. It is a crazy thought. This is just showing me how fragile life is, how delicately balanced. But that is a deeper conversation I am still figuring out. - Melissa
