This school system administration in the knife incident is showing ‘Lack of Judgment’, ‘Lack of Leadership’, and demonstrating legalisms disguised as leadership. On a fundamental level this is un-American. If this school administration is going to treat human beings who make mistakes, recognizing they have made a mistake . . . and do the right thing . . . then persecute them (?!) . . . what example are they setting, and what message are they sending to the students in the school? Students will see that there is no margin in doing the right thing, particularly when your humanity (propensity for making mistakes) shows through, and all human beings make mistakes. The first step in growth of any kind is recognition that growth in that area is required. Recognition a need for modification of behavior is the first step in making the change. Placing oneself “On Report” requires Character, and courage. In this case, making the first step to “Doing the Right Thing” is punished, so this community can no longer expect to see growth in its youth. Cheating and sneaking around while doing the wrong thing is promoted. This is lack of leadership and discretion on the part of the administration pure and simple, and evidence of a decaying/legalistic society. If this school’s administration is going to react in this ‘letter of the law’ manner, then the administration of the school should be replaced by machines that will always yield the same decision, the same way every time, and show no favoritism, discretion, or extend grace which only human beings can do. The machine will just render the same judgment every time regardless of circumstance. If the intent is to have the same judgment every time in this circumstance, then in this case, there is no reason for flawed human beings to be involved in the decision making process. This is what you get when the nation’s leadership deliberately states that “the United States no longer considers itself just to be just a Christian Nation”. These folks are definitely acting just like the mob that crucified Jesus. There is no grace, discretion, or judgment (save judgmentalism) in the process. This looks a lot like an example of the “Peter Principle” where one is elevated to a position where that individual is no longer competent.
