This seasonal change always brings back musical memories of St Olaf for me because of the Christmas Festival and most of all St Olaf Choir. Today I had a 30+ year flashback from nowhere. That year, the choir was on risers directly behind the viola section (maybe it always is?). So it truly was a front row seat. The center of gravity of the choirs selections that year was this. I was a transfer student, so this style of singing was brand new for me. I can see Kenneth Jennings conducting it with future director Anton Armstrong among the singers.
