This small clip from the 1926 Beau Geste illustrates the returning deserters to the fort, and the growing hatred to the overpowering sergeant. As you can see instantly the images are rather pitiful in their clarity and veiwing enjoyment. A vhs tape I have of this film is in the same condition, calling attention to the fact this film needs to be restored to the best possible condition possible. Further highlighting the fact that a full restoration would utilize the original musical score composed for symphony orchestra as intended for the musical overlay for this film. As you watch this film it becomes very apparent this was a film of the highest production values; sets, costumes, casting! A miraculous culmination of the filmmakers craft, so fine is it, it was remade almost shot by shot in 1939 is a true testament to this originals greatness. I strongly urge you my fellow RC friends, to add this masterpiece to your list of films to be selected by the Library Of Congress, to add to the National Registry.
