This song always struck me as trivializing a tragedy, but it really suits my mood now -- not the shooting thing, nor the disliking of Mondays, but the existential / philosophical absurdity that anyone seeking for reasons and purposes eventually encounter. I also like the mentions of mechanical objects, silicon chips and Telex machines primarily -- they seem to imply coldness and disassociation (Gah, Im not being articulate, but I think you get my point.) Im surprised there werent that many covers of this song given how frequently it gets played on Malaysian radio. I think it might hit too close to home for the US now. Or maybe it just doesnt get played often.
