This song takes me to a place where Im 10 yrs old + watching my Dad. Remembering him with long brown hair + shaggy long side burns. Back in the day when hed take me for rides on his green motorcycle. It seems so long ago, and yet so recent. My memory shifts to him dancing, his hands on his thighs and moving his body in the familiar way he did as he danced his style of dancing. I think about how this song was (and is) so special to him. Because of him, this song is special to me. When I listen to the words I know this song has special meaning to my dad. He lived these words. And to imagine him doing so, a smile comes to my face. He felt free. He was experimenting with love + whatever else. This song once made me think freedom leaves you at some point. And it can. Ive since learned it doesnt have to. Its our choice. Dad, this song is for you and I. I love you.
