This sort of accidental introduction of key elements of one environments ecology from another is the sort of thing that should happen quite often. The only mention of this sort of thing in canon relates to Komoran, peopled by native life forms and others brought by the Ebers. (Ben had some Eber life forms survive the destruction of the outpost on Daikoku in his write-up on the Arabian colony.) One interesting possibility is that, properly tracked, this could trace long histories of interplanetary contact. The main problem is that, with stellar drift, all but the most recent introductions would be untraceable. (Ecologists need escorts, right?)
