This sounds crazy, but will you join me? Here it is: Take a Break from the crap of life tonight. Forget politics...I think politics was invented just to frustrate us, no matter who we are. We are all too damn angry. I know I am. So...Forget all that for just a moment! Take the time to say, Welcome Leonids! And then, this evening, get up off your increasingly spreading behind and lumber outside for a few minutes of stargazing. The Lions of the Sky are coming to visit. Theyre coming from far away and, like all good guests, will only stay for awhile. So take a break tonight, November 17, and do it again tomorrow night, November 18. Read this article to see when and where the viewing will be best. And as you do, think of this: Ancient people, your and my ancestors, watched this mysterious movement of light through the night sky. From this kind of event, people from every culture and every time in history have studied this...and they have all been awed and they have all tried to learn lessons, to figure out life. This has been a constant among all of us for centuries. So, tonight and tomorrow night, we have a chance for us to watch, for a few moments, in lockstep with all our ancestors. Maybe, tonight, as we gaze upwards, we can all think of a few things: We can try to find a better reason to do stuff than just because we hate the other guys...we can decide to be nice to the bastards we hate, just for the heck of it. We can seek ways to heal and thrive rather than pouring all our efforts into finding ways to screw the other people just because they got a different message from their ancients and are different. I know it sounds crazy, but join me please. Tonight. I will think of great, unexplainable mysteries tonight when I look skyward...I will wonder why hatred is so easy and love is so hard...why scheming and plotting seem to trump open and honest too much of the time...I will think of this stuff...I dont expect answers, but I think it is important to look anyway.
