This speech marks a turning point in the future of American politics. If youre not familiar with Elizabeth Warren, youre going to be. She long taught at many law schools, including Rutgers and Harvard. Her lifes work has been in consumer protection advocacy. She long advised Congress on Bankruptcy Law before being asked to work on a Congressional Oversight Committee on financial regulations. In her past, she regularly voted Republican because she thought they best supported the markets but doesnt believe that to be true anymore (its true, they dont). She never intended to get involved in politics but was encouraged by many to run for the Senate and did. Now, shes calling for revolution in the Democratic Party, taking aim at Wall Street, the White House and the status quo. Petitions are popping up everywhere and money is pouring in attempts to encourage her to run for President. She says shes not, which is fine, the American people need her in the Senate (and people just like her in the House and in the Presidency). This speech on the Senate floor tonight was a memorable one and one that has won her praise from Americans on both sides of the aisle.
