This status wont apply to all of my Facebook friends, but Ive been asked a question on several different occasions as it pertains to the activities that pastors and church leaders do or do not participate in outside of church. So let me speak for myself and my house: we are very particular about the things that we take part in outside of church settings. That doesnt mean that we dont have a life. It means that we care enough about guarding our gift and anointing that we will not be found in all places doing all things. All things are permissible, but all things are not beneficial... Things that other people do are not wrong, they are just wrong for us. We personally dont risk being in situations where, at some point or another, our gift and the grace of God can be called into question. We believe that just as the Levites and priests of the Old Testament our calling is sacred and far outweighs temporary benefits or pleasures of being out and known. There was one thing that I promised God right before I started full-time ministry in 2007: I promised that even through my imperfections, I would never find myself in a position where I would compromise His glory for my gain or satisfaction. There are just certain things we cant and wont do. Not because we are better than anyone else. We all have our own stuff. We just cant compromise Gods grace and anointing on our lives. When we stand to pray, preach, prophesy, or worship, we always want to be pure vessels. Not perfect vessels...but pure. When Phineka leads worship, I never worry about the anointing resting on her because I know how she lives. When I preach and pastor, I never want people to have to guess if I will be on or off. I always want my life to be hidden in God so that when I speak, I am literally speak what He is sharing in a moment. And thats just us. Not stuck up, not better than anyone else...just wanting to be so connected with God that we never miss the moment that He wants to use us to share with others. Man, this could have been a blog! :-)
