This story has a happy ending. A poor young Herring Gull was spotted with a large fishing lure caught in his beak in Harbor Creek. Many concerned bystanders contacted the Center, and Wildlife First Responder Lynn Martin responded. With the aid of a bystander, the bird--who could still fly--was caught. Lynn transported the bird to Tamarack this evening, and happily, the hook was successfully removed. The bird will be treated to ensure it does not develop an infection before being sent back on his way.
