This story takes me back to PR basics - you cannot win a war in the press. UNLESS, you position the media in front of their fraternity, the INTERNATIONAL media and make them look ... silly. Deepika is not your average star and she is one of Indias many ambassadors recognized for her work, around the world. Imagine if the same statement was made to Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones or Angelina Jolie; Im quite certain there would be lawsuits (in the headlines) and it would have provoked the same public response. No one likes to see anyone attacked or defamed in the press, especially someone as respected as Deepika Padukone. It was a classless statement, in my opinion and it should be rescinded with an apology made, but history will reflect what the media does; what the media says can always end up written as their story.
