This study shows that 90% of clinically identified mutations could be detected by sequencing the cancer patients genome. Additionally, novel cancer genes emerged. I do believe, however, that the current practice of cancer gene panels are more effective as a first line test. Panels can have better coverage than whole genome sequencing. This might be a nice follow up for the patients whos panel came up short.
