This subject is very difficult. On the one hand, its easy to look at someone who gets off on killing what are effectively caged apex predators as pathetic and lacking moral character. On the hand, these fat cats killing actual big cats do bring in a ton of money and economic benefit to local people who ultimately will be key to deciding the fate of these highly important species. Without money, further habitat destruction is likely. In a perfect world, I suppose we could extract the same economic premiums from tourism that involved using cameras instead of guns, but the brutal reality of the jungle is that everything is hunting everything anyway. The best option is (human) population control, education and economic development, with a focus to conserving more and more land for natural habitation.
