This summer I have been seeking out Lobster Rolls, - the real CT kind, on a split New England Style hot dog bun which has been toasted on a grill in butter, and then just the right amount of melted butter and lemon to compliment the sweet lobster meat. Lobster Rolls – 2013 – In search of the Best Lobster Roll In order of dining pleasure, here is my critique 1) Salmon River House – Lee, MA – just the right amount of butter, lemon and perfect toasted roll 2) Lobster Shack – Branford, CT – good portion, nice foot long bun, sweet fresh meat 3) Tourist Trap – Coral Bay, St. John, USVI – buttery, lemon perfection – used Caribbean Lobster 4) Lake House Restaurant – Seymour, Ct - buttery, lemon just right, portion a bit small 5) Danny’s Drive In – Stratford, Ct – good but needed more lemon 6) Abbott’s In The Rough, Noank, Ct – large portion, but served on hamburger bun – major fail 7) Red Lion Inn – Stockbridge, MA – awful, fishy, no butter / lemon, roll not toasted. – would not recommend I am open to suggestions on where I should try next.
