This summer I was fortunate enough to get hired full time with the Presque Isle Police Department. I have really enjoyed working here the past few months and am looking forward to serving the city. I am lucky enough to work with a great group of officers that I learn more and more from every shift. I started off my law enforcement career with the Ashland Police Department in 2012 as a reserve officer. I was born and raised in Ashland which made it difficult at times because it seemed like I knew everyone I was dealing with. Presque Isle is different, I don’t know everyone and the volume of calls is much greater. For example, since August, Ashland PD has dealt with about 186 calls including traffic stops. The Presque Isle PD on the other hand has dealt with about 5,109 calls, not including traffic stops. While I have a much better chance for back-up assistance in Presque Isle than I did before, we stay very busy in Presque Isle and often times help is hard to find. Please be patient with us as we prioritize calls for service, we will respond as quickly as possible. - Officer Tyler Cote
