This summer, along with spending over an hour exercising at the park, some of our scholar athletes were given the opportunity to learn a new type of physical activity. Our amazing volunteer, Marco, shared his time and talents with the PAST&E program this summer! Marco utilizes a combined approach of life coaching and a body centered practice inspired by yoga, tai-chi, and breathing techniques that is designed for the development and growth of individuals, groups, or organizations. Marco was in a senior level financial role for 20+ years leading teams for international and fortune 500 companies in Italy, Holland, and the US before he made his major career shift as founder of StudioRIO Coaching. In collaboration with PAST&E he has developed the “Mind & Body Training” program, an easy-to-follow practice that supports and helps teens who are genuinely interested in continuously improving their natural talents to reach their full potential as individuals and athletes. Marco commented: The program is a comprehensive model, excellent for improving strength, flexibly, and fitness of the body, while developing a non-judgmental habit of physical, emotional and mental awareness of what is happening in the present moment. Doing the activity itself naturally improves focus, stress management, and self-awareness, so that teens athletes can develop emotional regulation and self-control skills and reduce re-activity and impulsiveness, to make good decisions and live their experiences with more intention. Marco is proud of Alberto, Natisha, Miguel, Ristom, James, Gerry, Tomas, Rosaria, and Jasmine. He shared that they are great teen scholar athletes that joined the “Mind & Body Training” program this summer at St. Johns Racquet Center. Thank you, Marco, for all your hard work!
