This summer has been much like an excellent Mexican meal: June held that slight, warm "spiciness" of the season to come, just like that first bite of a fabulous cantina-style salsa; July eased in on the tail of that savory semi-heat, but packed a walloping PUNCH of flavor right in the middle, teasing the palate with a quick, livid heat; and now I can only hope that August will be like the lingering flavor of a fantastic fajita dinner, when all of the previous taste sensations meld and leave a satisfying but not-too-damaging-to-the-taste-buds experience.... ....of course, if previous summers such as this are any indication, August will be more like the livid heartburn that ensues after even the mildest Mexican feast, and we will all need a nice, BIG tequila to soothe our bellies (read: MINDS) come September.... ....ahhhhhhh, how I love Mexican food....er, mild summers....er, tequila....wait -- what was I talking about again?
