This summer has been one in which we have continued to sleep under a down comforter with flannels on, keeping the ceiling fan on at night; but often getting up during the day to turn it off, only to learn that it had never been clicked on. We knew when we decided to move here that we would delight in the beauty of the mountains, but we hoped also to enjoy plenty of fresh air in the summer time without being closed up inside with AC going strong. Air conditioning is great where needed, but we have enjoyed not needing it during these 19 years. Perhaps once or twice we might have used it during this time, but weve never come close to considering having it installed. Perhaps this well insulated stone house has helped, but one thing thing is certain. Moving from here to a place that requires a return to our former life of summer AC would be an adjustment.
