This summer the Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at CHOP is organizing their third surgical mission to Guatemala. Last year, CHOP Pediatric General Surgeon, Dr. Doolin, led a team of over 20 clinicians from CHOP and other area hospitals to Guatemala to treat children desperately in need of surgical care. In 2013, 70 operations were performed and the same is expected this year. Pediatric surgical care is rare for these residents, and from past years experience, it was evident that this care is not otherwise available.
