Blackberries and Plums are at the peak of ripeness in the Pacific Northwest this week. Im freezing the plums on our tree to make this recipe in a couple of weeks for a potluck we are hosting. This recipe was adapted by something far naughtier that Martha Stewart has posted on the internet. 1/2 cup honey 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice 1 pounds plums, pitted and cut into wedges 9 ounces fresh blackberries 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, plus more for serving 8 cups sparkling water Bring honey and 1 1/4 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until honey is dissolved, 3 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool 15 minutes. Syrup can be refrigerated for up to 1 month. Combine lemon juice, fruit, and basil in a bowl. Add syrup; mash lightly to release juices. Refrigerate at least 1 day and up to 4 days. Combine fruit mixture and sparkling water in a pitcher or punch bowl; ladle about 1/3 cup into each glass. Fill with ice. Garnish with more basil, and serve.
