This ticks me off. This is assinine. The whole premise of the old way was understanding base 10. Once you understand base 10, you can apply your knowledge to other base systems. For example, many computer codings are based off of base8 and base16. That was the whole point. This new way makes no sense. Ive looked at it and looked at it and tried to figure out the logic. Lets face it - we based teaching kids on base10, because its a pretty natural # in our lives - 10 fingers, 10 toes. Get back to the f(*^*(^%ng basics. Maybe there is some logic to it and Im just not seeing it. But, what was wrong with the old system of digits, 10s, 100s, 1000s, etc. Its all based on exponential powers of numbers. What the hell is this based on.
