Pius and Yanto had been into town and each bought a hog to fatten up for thanksgiving. “How we gonna brand them?” asked Pius, ”so that we know which one belongs to who” “You don’t brand hogs you retard, their skin is too thin, and they would be injured” “So what do we do Yanto” Yanto straightened himself up and looked assured, “we clip the ear on one of them and then we’ll know which is which” Pius gazed into Yanto’s eyes with deep admiration, “that’s a great idea, I’ll get me a knife and cut a notch in this hogs ear” Yanto and Pius smiled at each other and both thought “Tom isn’t the only smart cookie in this here biscuit barrel” The next day the guys went to see how the new hogs were getting along and much to their dismay they were met by the sight of two hogs without ears! “Them hogs has been feuding in the night and bit off their ears” observed Yanto. “Now what do we do?” asked Pius. The two men stared and blinked at each other for a few minutes before Pius yelled “I know, why don’t we just cut the tail of one of the hogs and then we can still tell them apart” “Well glory be” declared Yanto “you may not be book smart but you know a shit load about hogs” One of the hogs was led away and after a short time the air peace was broken by a squeal which told Tom that the poor hog had just lost its tail. All was well on the ranch for a few days until one morning when Pius and Yanto went to view their thanksgiving dinners in the pen. “Holy shit” they both exclaimed “both hogs hasn’t got tails” Obviously the hogs had been fighting again and the tail had gone missing from the other hog. Tom couldn’t stand it any longer “listen guys” he said “I can see that you’re having a little trouble with identifying who owns which hog” Yanto and Pius looked at each other and then back at Tom “How about this” said Tom, “why doesn’t Pius have the black hog and Yanto have the white hog?” It just seemed kinder to Tom to put the two men out of their misery.
