This time last week I was preparing to get 4 planes and several trains and buses for a bit of a mammoth journey back to Southport via Barcelona for Andy Matthews 40th birthday party. How could I not go? A dozen years ago, when I was focused on producing music and writing, I listened to my gut instinct and entrusted whats turned out to be a major part of my future in the hands of slightly gobby/ borderline cocky, take no shit/usually fair PR from Koppas. On very rare occasions he was funny too. I didnt actually know him that well at the time. Its turned out to be one of the better decision Ive made cos most know that one of the main contributing factors in Plastiks success is him and his common-law-wife Zeana (no Zeana, that doesnt mean youre common). And the success of his 40th was entirely down to Zeana, as is the gorgeousness of their babies, Jude and Rico. Im proud to have him as a business partner and even moreso in recent years, a friend. His birthday is in a few days so judging by the turnout at his party, a few of you will be joining me in raising your glass to him. The best bit of all though, as you can see from the picture, is that hes morphing into his mum. Ive got a fiver on him shaving his head in the next 3 years.
