This time last year I was in the ICU, on life support, surrounded - TopicsExpress

This time last year I was in the ICU, on life support, surrounded by family and friends (some that had flown thousands of miles) to see me and say goodbye. At least thats because my team of doctors said I wasnt going to make it. But I like proving people wrong. An old swim coach once described me as the little engine that could and I did. I survived - I battled 106-degree fever, I beat an unknown illness, I learned to walk, talk, eat and see again. I am almost back to myself again, one year later, again proving doctors wrong because they said maybe in two years Ill be back to normal. Could I have done all that alone? No, I dont think so. All those friends and family - that gathered at the hospital, that prayed from afar, that made meals for Glenn, that offered to modify our house with wheelchair ramps, that took care of our dog, that raised or gave money for my mounting medical bills, that picked up my job duties, that sent get well cards and gift packages - all made a difference in my life and my recovery. I am very thankful for that outpouring of love. The list of everyone to thank is huge but worth acknowledging: Sharon Banks VanderWekke, my dad, Karen Fasciano Schmidt, Lynn Spagnuolo Taylor, Chris Spagnuolo, Karen Grant Spagnuolo, Mary Ann Russell, Maria Moran Finnegan, Katie Gallagher Taylor, Doug Kelly, Lisa Fippinger Sorbo, Robert Spagnuolo, and many others. Last but not least - my husband Glenn. He was my rock, my partner, my coach, my backbone, my crutch, my angel. I definitely wouldnt be here without him. Thank you G and everyone else. I am alive, grateful and loving life!
