This time last year, Kaleb had just finished Baylors Inpatient - TopicsExpress

This time last year, Kaleb had just finished Baylors Inpatient feeding program. He had made incredible progress eating by mouth, and hed made exceptional strides in PT. We went to my parents house for Thanksgiving, and all of a sudden Kaleb couldnt take more than 10 steps without resting. His color was off, was breathless when moving, and his Sats were several points lower. I was convinced he was getting sick, but 2 weeks later he was still struggling. Thanksgiving was the day our lives pointed in the direction of his next surgery...whatever, wherever, and however was still to be determined. But Thanksgiving was the tipping point. I still cant believe how quickly things changed, and I remember like it was yesterday the constant sick feeling that followed me everywhere over the next few months. There would be no medicine to make him better...no amount of time for him to recover on his own. Only surgery could keep him with us...and it would be a big one this time. This time last year was the beginning of what has been a year of incredible highs and terrifying lows...countless prayers, so much love, and a couple of miracles. We are so blessed to be together THIS Thanksgiving. Were still doing battle most days, but this year my boy ran and didnt stop to catch his breath. This year, he was far too busy for sleep, and this year I know there is no surgery coming straight for us. He slept in a tent with his Mimi, fished with his PawPaw, let me rock him to sleep for the first time in months, and talked non-stop. He blew out the candle(for the first time) on PawPaws birthday pie, took bites of nana, woke up before dawn EVERY blessed morning, sang along to Super Why, and hugged and hugged all of us. Thankful just isnt a big enough word to wrap around my feelings this year. Thank you for being with us, praying for, and loving our boy. One day, one hour, one minute at a time...
