This time next month, our Managing Director, Mark, will be sore, sleep deprived, and perhaps still thawing out, after sleeping out in the open, with nothing but some cardboard as a matress. Why? To simply highlight, and raise awareness for the homeless of Melbourne, and Australia. Over 100,000 AUSTRALIANS sleep rough every night, without any of the basic needs of shelter and security that we all enjoy, and actually take for granted. Many homeless are there purely due to unfortunate circumstances, landing them in difficult situations that they need assistance to get out of. Far too many homeless are women and children, who are victims of domestic violence. That is that they fear so much for their safety in what should be their family home, that they simply cannot go there, and must sleep in the street, with nowhere else to go. Reach out your hand to some of these souls who so desperately need it. By sponsoring $50 you can provide school books and material for a disadvantaged child. A donation of $100 will provide bedding, a meal and a fresh change of clothes for a homeless person. A gift of $500 will pay the rent for a family facing eviction. A donation of $1,000 will enable a survivor of domestic violence, and their children to make the supported transition from a Vinnies refuge into independent housing.
