This time of year always seems to bring some kind of epiphany or chrysalis for me. And its usually uncomfortable--like bones breaking and reforming to grow bigger, stronger. Last years was... ugh. If I could NOT do that again, thatd be okay. But this year, its been hard, too. Theres no doubting that. Ive had a lot of loss and Im expecting more. But it happened again, this sort of cocoon of learning. It wasnt as painful this time. Im comfortable with it, and comforted by it. I can see the lessons that I can choose to take away from the experiences without being hit in the head with them like bricks. I was challenged not only in the way I see the world, but the way I see myself. My wants and needs going forward, how to get there, and who I want with me when I do. I met a lot of new people, got to know others better and increased my circle. I also saw what I dont want and why certain people are only acquaintances and why they should stay that way. There are people who arent toxic on their own, but you mix them with others of a certain type and theyre a biohazard. My lenses have changed for better and Im grateful for all the exciting new opportunities in my lap.
