This time tomorrow Ross will be at school, starting Primary 3, and Holly and I will be on our way to Crosshouse Hospital for her Cochlear Implant operation. Funnily enough the thing I am dreading the most about tomorrow is having to starve her all day! It is going to be an absolute nightmare. She is allowed a light breakfast before 7am (if I can get her up before then!), then she is allowed only water until 11am. Her operation is scheduled for early evening, 5pm at the earliest! Poor Holly loves her food, and is normally asking for a snack by 10am AFTER shes had breakfast. She just will not understand why Im refusing her food, and will probably get upset. The day wont be able to go fast enough tomorrow.... When Holly first got her implants in 3 years ago we had a little scare after the surgery when she came out in a rash. The rash didnt disappear when pressed and we panicked that it was possibly meningitis AGAIN. We had been advised that there is a small risk of contracting meningitis with the nature of the surgery being in the head. Anyway, Holly was started on IV antibiotics straight away and transferred to Glasgows Southern General Hospital where we stayed for a week. Thankfully it all turned out to be a false alarm, but it was 7 nights in hospital instead of the scheduled 2 nights. Fingers crossed there are no dramas this time round (especially as Craig is in Spain and I will be at the hospital myself), and that Holly gets to come home on Thursday.
