This true story caught me by surprise. One reason I love teaching is I get to influence children everyday and that thrills me to wonder what good I am instilling in them. I hope that in my teaching all the curriculum I am required to teach that I am also teaching them to love learning, not to be afraid to learn something new, to be kind to others, to be patient with others and themselves. I hope that I am instilling in them to have a strong self-esteem and to set AND achieve goals. I hope that I am teaching them to laugh and find humor in stressful situations. I hope they will grow into the best generation ever to have lived on the Earth, to be successful in life, to be kind to all people . . . and to do math. Okay, I made that last part up. But I do hope they will love being creative, think outside of the box, and find great value in education, the arts, and in others.
