This video catches me in the midst of a sequence that elicits a struggle. When I began teaching yoga a few years ago, one of my students who was also a small businesswoman warned me, Youve gotta guard your business with your life. Whether I agree with her Im still deciding, but that comment still haunts me from time to time. The way Ive interpreted is that Ive got to protect and honor what is most precious to me. One cannot break whats not fragile. And when I practice an intense sequence, I am mindful to keep going - to defy the obvious quit point, to practice devotion to what supports me - my hands and breath. Life is a long (or short - depending on how you look at it) moving meditation and as we encounter inevitable struggle along the way, we can choose to allow the struggle to define us; or, we can rise above it and use it as fuel to empower us.
