This video is bullshit. Every time man hits a woman, everybody flips out about it. This includes family and friends from both the victim and the abuser. But when a woman hits a man, nobody gives a shit. Some people will go far as to say that if a woman hits a man, he deserves it. Im aware that domestic abuse happens more to women then men, but thats no reason to completely dismiss men being victims, which is exactly what this ad is doing. Men shouldnt be hitting women, but women shouldnt be hitting men either. Nobody should be hitting anybody. For all of these anti-domestic abuse campaigns, lets focus both on male and female victims. After all, a victim is a victim. Another reason why this video is bullshit is because this video enforces the stereotype that all men are inherently violent, while women are not. Well, thats the impression that Im given with this ad, and Im sure other people feel the same way. If thats the case, then my mother must have been terrified to be living with her husband and two sons. You know, because men are inherently violent. Oh wait, it wasnt like that in my home at all. Why? Neither my dad, my brother, nor I have never raised a hand towards a woman, and we never will. Also, youre teaching the kids in this ad two things. 1) Domestic abuse only happens to women. 2) All men are inherently violent.
