This video is fascinating on the basics of flamenco, which I love. There was a wonderful nuevo (modern) flamenco artist, Omayra Amaya - niece of the great Carmen - who had a 2nd floor studio in Cambridge in the middle.of the business district, and in warm.weather the windows were open, and when classes were underway the sound of the nail spiked heels hitting the wood floor sounded from the street like an intoxicatingly rhythmic herd of buffalo had somehow gotten upstairs. Someone was selling on eBay a pair of the most extraordinary soft navy blue leather handmade flamenco pumps from London with over 200 nails.in the heels, and I made a trade with her for unworn metallic gold Italian pumps, hoping.to join the class and become not the most takented but nonetheless devoted new student. Well... Amaya went to Santa Fe with her company.I had arthritis that worsened before I found another class, and the magical, amazing shoes that fit perfectly became lost after a traumatic move. I am still.a fan. People used to.ask me because of.the name Dorothy, Where are your red (Wizardbof Oz) shoes, and I thought, my magical shoes were never red; they.were navy blue, and they were for flamenco...
