This video is heartbreaking--absolutely devastating. The mom can be heard screaming repeatedly, Hes just a little boy! Hes just a little boy! Israeli soldiers not only kidnap this young boy (what, 10 years old?), but the way they abuse the mother and women trying to protect him is frightening. What we appear to be witnessing is the complete dehumanization of the Other--and this happens hundreds of times over. These are children. This specific child was named Kareem (as you can hear his mother screaming). Where is the humanity in this? What happens to the souls of those who are no longer able to see the humanity in others, not even children (whether Israeli soldiers, U.S. border patrol agents, or NYPD officers, etc.)? What is the relationship between militarism, the formation of police-states, and increasing levels of violence against ordinary citizens?
