This video is kind of funny, but totally ignorant. I dont agree with Rand 90 percent like I did ten years ago, and understand theres just as much flaws in her ideals as any other philosophy. And of course, weve all played the game Bioshock that takes place in a dystopian Ayn Randist post-apocalyptic future of super humans, so we all know what happens there... I still find it it interesting though and its quite clear that both the left and the right of American popular media have little to no understanding of her writings and take her quotes horribly out of context. Her idea of selfishness never really involved taking from others for personal gain. Which seems to be the underlying misconception behind conservatives using her writings to justify their manifest destiny type of greed and liberals disliking her. I think her views (and there is a lot of grey area, which there should be) were far more on the left side of the fence if you pay attention. For someone to be truly happy, it must never be as a result of the suffering of others and if you are truly benefitting yourself, you are also benefitting society. These may be more my words than hers, but Im applying them here anyway. Forgetting about how she or anyone else may have applied it to capitalism/communism, her writings were at their heart, about the value in making yourself happy instead of suffering for those around you, not in making those around you suffer for your happiness. The fact that she saw money as a physical representation of happiness was her major flaw, and would never work in any society, only in her fantasy fiction societies. She was strongly against religion and racism because they discourage thinking for yourself, something that is still overlooked as being far too absent in todays society, which this closed minded liberal mumbo jumbo video is once again proof of: https://youtube/watch?v=_8m8cQI4DgM
