This video is still hilarious, watching it again after a long while. At around the 2:17 minute mark, Chef Aunty Aini introduced Chef Gordon Ramsay to her clitoria bush. The celebrity chef asked: Does your husband ever come to pick your clitoria bush? Most Westerners are amused or surprised by the scientific name of Clitoria ternatea. It takes the Latin name from a nice little fold (similar to a human clitoral hood or prepuce) in the flower. In South-East Asia, it is known by the more prudish name of blue pea flower or bunga telang. The derived organic blue dye is used in the east coast blue rice and nyona kueh, among others. I dug up the video to share with my friend Tracy. Shes the San Francisco-based underground dining host/chef of @EatWithTracy fame on Instagram. Her Malaysian dishes are enthralling Americans tasting home-cooked Malaysian specialities for the first time. Me: I like your clitoria (pic). Tracy: Its Mystiques.
