This video made by my friends at National Geographic Magazine tells the Love Story that began my career as a photographer. In 1998, while still in University, I travelled with my first camera and some of my first film to a place called Svanetia in the Georgian Republic. I fell in love with both the people and the place, but especially with one family (The Pilpanis). That was my first photo essay and the reason I am National Geographic photographer today. National Geographic magazine was generous enough to send me back 15 years later to find this place and this family again. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, and for the chance to carry another heart project to fruition in such a visible way and to be able to share it with you.
