This video made me cry.... These girls are all SO BEAUTIFUL in all different ways. And their hair is GORGEOUS. Im emotional because these girls are/were me.... Not too long ago. I didnt always like my natural hair. And I would mask my hair in micros (tiny braids) all the time. Not saying that a braided hairstyle is bad, ITS AWESOME, but my motive behind it was negative and self loathing. I didnt feel feminine with a fro, I didnt feel beautiful. And I envied girls with a loose curl pattern and long straight hair. I didnt even like talking about my hair, and use to tell other people not to talk about it too. So I feel their hurt, I feel their pain, to want something that you naturally cant have. A few years ago is when I said no more braids, just me and my hair. It grows this way, and thats the way Ill wear it. God intended for me to have natural curly, kinky hair, and if I say deep in my heart that I want to be the woman God intented for me to be?? That means loving myself and my tiny coils of hair. What about our society teaches these girls, (and taught me as a child), that straight hair is better? Is more beautiful??? Whatever it is, that lie needs to be silenced, the evils of self-loathing needs to be CRUSHED. I am learning to love my hair... The BIGGER, The better. I want hair so big it disrupts the peace! I want my hair to touch the roof of my car! I want my hair to sing of the GREATNESS of God and all his wonders!! Because God cares about our hair.... (its TRUE!) and If we started to think about how our hair care and love of our hair can glorify God and not ourselves? IT COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING #Jubilee2015 Beauty is the eye of the beholder ....that is true!!! BUT the beholder is not is, (I Repeat) it is NOT man... The beholder IS GOD!!
