This video shows Galapagos conservation in action. Over the next 4 minutes you will see our investigators studying the invasive parasitic fly, Philornis downsi. Its larvae feed on baby birds including the word famous “Darwin Finches - at times accounting for 100% nest mortality. Urgent action is required and ground-breaking science will provide the answer. As this video reveals, finding a solution for Philornis involves a huge team effort. Since this project began, more than 20 local galapageño thesis students and volunteers have been trained to support our work. National and international collaborators also continue to play a vital role.
