This video shows a few things that strike out at me. But for the average Joe trying to escape a house fire there are two main points Id like to touch on. First how vital it is to stay low and go. The left image is the thermal image that shows how hot it is. With that said the heat rises quickly. It is important that you stay low and go and get out quickly! Do not go back in for any reason! A third thought that comes to mind is call for help immediately after evacuating. Time is vital for us to be able to get there and attempt to save anything we can. Take care.
