This war has a strange effect on people. I guess every war has, - TopicsExpress

This war has a strange effect on people. I guess every war has, but this particular one is special. Some people, me included, become just numb. Numb while on the same time everything aches inside. Yes, strange. I know. Few days ago I talked to a friend in Gaza who lost everything. Everything. He kept his pair of jeans and his shirt and a few things that he could rescue from the rubble. Thats all. He lost family members, his house, all his posessions. Almost impossible to imagine how he feels. Makes you lost for words. The other night I heard from a girl in Israel who lost her husband in a terror attack few years ago. And again, the feeling made me speechless. Yeah, at some point you just become numb. Painfully, piercingly numb. Sounds like an oxymoron. But I cannot describe it any better. Others just become defensive. Like the kind when you scream and shout and hit anything thats in your way. Some people lost all their empathy in this war. Others just went crazy. Some became agressive, some became violent. Some became fundamentalistic. But I guess all of us got scared. Maybe its the fear that finally unites us? Maybe its the feeling of fear and despair that will some day bring us together? I really dont know. All I know is... were in the same boat. Were all in this together. And we can only solve this conflict together. And we cannot solve it with rockets and bombs. The only thing that will bring us peace is peace itself. The peace within ourselves that grows from empathy, compassion and friendship. We have a long way to go. But at least I know... we walk together. Please stay safe everyone! Joujou
