This was March of 1962 at the old Devils Bowl- when they ran the stock cars there for about nine weeks- thats James McFadin in the #8 and J R Gilreath in #9 -Jim Crocker won the very first feature that year and J R won the next eight in a row before they shut them down and the hot -rods came back to the bowl and Roy Miller went on the win his second Devils Bowl hot-rod championship.A side note -the year before 1961 Gilreath entered 60 features in Texas and Okla. in the #9 car and won 49 of then in one year- thats really amazing !
