This was an email from our pastor today: FROM THE PASTOR September 16, 2014 Pastor Richard Walker A few weeks ago, I delivered a message that focused on the doctrine of salvation, and it was based on 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. It is clear from this passage that Gods desire is that all be saved. But, in His sovereignty, God allows us to chose after we are convicted and enabled by the Holy Spirit to say yes to His offer of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, though we can still say no. Not all would agree with my position on this issue. In fact, a potential candidate for one of our open staff positions listened to my message by going to our churchs website, and after listening wrote to us and called me ignorant. If I am ignorant, I am in good company, for this view of salvation is in keeping with that of the great Baptist pastors, theologians, denominational leaders, and statesmen of my day, including men like Charles Stanley, Jerry Vines, Paige Patterson, and Adrian Rogers (whom I consider to be one of the greatest preachers and godliest men I have ever met). In fact, this week, I came across a Youtube video of Adrian Rogers preaching on this subject that I found to be a blessing. On Youtube, it is divided up into four 10 minute segments.
