This was found by my admin on Tumblr, I shall post the link Vlad has woken with a start, body shooting upright as a strangled cry escaped his lips. He clamped his jaws shut immediately, blankets falling to his waist as the prince tried to steady his breathing. It was not often he would nightmares able to pull a cry from him, though nightmares were common. A shifting of weight behind him told Vlad that he had awoken Mirena, his beloved wife, and the touch of her hand upon his lower back was comforting; though much to his dismay he jumped at the touch. ❝ I am sorry for waking you love, go back to sleep. ❞ Vlad spoke softly, chest still rising and falling quite heavily. A hand came up to run through his hair, a thin layer of sweat helping keep the black locks from his face. As the bed shifted he thought that Mirena had taken his advice, but soon her body was against his back, arms wrapping around his stomach. ❝ Was it the faces again? ❞ Vlad gave a slightly nod, letting out a loud sigh as his head tilted forward. Mirena knew well the one nightmare that could cause him to react so violently, and that was when the faces of all the innocents he had slaughtered would haunt him. The last two always being that of Ingeras and Mirena. At the point he would wake with a start. ❝ How can you love such a heartless man? ❞ Vlad questioned her, head still bowed and eyes closed. There was the shifted of weight once more as Mirena moved around to sit kneeling in front of him. Her soft hands lifted up his chin, forcing him to look at her, though it was quite dark within their room. ❝ Vlad, listen to me, you are not heartless. Just your reaction to the dream is proof enough. Plus, I can feel your pulse. Here, here and here. ❞ Everytime she spoke the word ‘here’, Mirena would kiss an area of skin where his pulse was prevalent. Both wrist and then the pulse on the side of his neck. With each touch Vlad felt his worries fade, and when she moved back he reached out and stroked the side of her face. ❝ I have no idea what I’d do without you.
