This was last year for a person we knew and admired in Laredo, but on reading I want to give it some more time: SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 648 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Hortense Reuthinger Offerle on her 2013 induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and prepare them to succeed in todays complex global economy; and WHEREAS, Hortense Offerle is a native Laredoan and a 1946 graduate of Martin High School; she attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City before returning to her home state to attend The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned bachelors and masters degrees in music; and WHEREAS, She taught for 35 years in the Laredo Independent School District and had a positive impact on the lives of countless students; she also served as a music supervisor; she has been an active member of her church and has served as choir director and as a member of the Administrative Council; and WHEREAS, She is a founder of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra and has played an active role with the Laredo Little Theatre; she truly deserves recognition for her many contributions to her students and to her community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Hortense Reuthinger Offerle on her many achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
