This was my favourite quote from jazz guitarist Nigel Price, being interviewed by Sebastian Scotney: I made a real mess of school and joined the infantry when I was 16. I regret losing the time, it’s time I could have been playing music. But the friends you make there are the kind of friends you’d take a bullet for and whilst I don’t keep in touch much there’s a bond there that simply cannot break. People presume that I’m some kind of silent, steely eyed killer but in fact I’m just pretty good at cleaning toilets and doing what I’m told. I then became a groundsman in a mental hospital which was an experience. It was always a bit soul-destroying to see the residents eating the flowers you’d just planted. Funnily enough the hospital closed and the wards were converted into houses and that’s where I live now! Nigel - theres so much in here - write a book/screenplay! (when/if you have time)
