This was my message to NIB health fund today I am so mad right now I could spit Well to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I have paid into your fund since I was 15 years old and I am now 53 so for a very long time. I have never abused the fund by having unnecessary procedures and now find that the time that I do need you assistance it is not there. When I started I paid the highest cover available and believed until today that still to be the case. On contacting your staff to enquire about the refund for a procedure for my daughter I have been told that under my policy this is not covered it is only covered under new policies. At no time was I contacted and asked if I would like to upgrade as I most definitely would have. I was aware that there would be money to be paid to the surgeon and anaesthetist however was sure that the hospital and theatre costs would be covered. This is outrageous that I have paid all this money for over 35 years only to be told sorry bad luck you have a nice day. My grandfather was one of the founders of this company and up until now I have never considered changing health funds but I can assure you that I will be now and will be telling everyone I can how badly managed this whole situation has been. My membership number is 06264260. It would be nice to hear back however as your customer service doesnt seem to care one way or the other I probably shouldnt expect too much.
